Gluttony?

Eating- it is a drastically simple concept. We take food, put it in our mouth, enjoy it's flavor, and then go about our days. It supplies us with energy, a sense of happiness, and satisfaction. However, lately I have come to realize how much this simple act is taken for granted. I can't remember a day when I didn't have to take insulin after shoving food into my mouth. It is astounding that I can't remember a gluttonous day without consequence. Sure you gain a little weight as a non diabetic person, but to partake in a high carb gluttonous palette as a diabetic, requires that you pick your battle. More often than not, you will have high glucose levels after a meal and as a result you will feel terrible, or rather you may over compensate with insulin and enter a glucose low. Either way you won't feel quite up too par.

I guess what I'm getting at, is that, whether you are diabetic, healthy as an ox, vegan, vegetarian, lactose intolerant, etc, don't take eating for granted. Cherish every bite you take and every moment you spend eating with someone else. It is a complicated process that follows eating, and many tend to forget this concept.

Respect your body, and it's power to adapt to your consumption. Be a glutton, but be a glutton with respect.

Rant Over.
